I never thought I'd ever be referred to as an author...

Awareness about sports for persons with disabilities is very minimal. Particularly when I entered into swimming competitions in 2011, the situation was not like the present day. To create more awareness, I started blogging and later created a Facebook account too. These were very new for me. I didn't have any idea about how social media works, but I wrote posts straight from my heart.

I used to write about the participants of our activities, our supporters, my experiences and the impact of my talks at various forums etc.

When I started my social activities, I didn't have any confirmed funding. There was no question of hiring a professional. Hence I had to write everything myself - from proposals and emails to various people seeking support to arrange events, to submit representations to Govt officials on various matters like the need for accessible infrastructure facilities, equal opportunities and recognition to adaptive sports persons, adding curriculum on adaptive sports etc.

Frankly speaking, social work without funding gave me the opportunity to discover and hone hidden skills in me :)

Watch this space for more on my journey...
