Recently, I visited my sister’s home at INDIS Group Vivacity in Hyderabad, and for the first time, I experienced truly accessible common facilities in a residential complex. It was heartening to see how thoughtfully these spaces were designed, making them accessible to wheelchair users like myself. However, I couldn’t help but think how much more inclusive it would be if they also installed a swimming pool lift. This simple addition would make a world of difference for elderly residents and persons with disabilities, enabling them to enjoy the pool safely and comfortably.
The accessibility of individual flats was also impressive. This kind of forward-thinking design is exactly what we need to see more of in housing complexes across the country. In one of our upcoming films, we would like to highlight inclusive residential facilities. We are eager to showcase such spaces that truly consider the needs of all residents.
I wrote to INDIS with a few suggestions to make it even more inclusive. I hope someone will review it and respond. Unfortunately, these kinds of inclusive facilities are still rare, but I hold onto the hope that more developers will recognize the importance of accessibility. If any officials from Indis or other developers with similar inclusive facilities happen to see this message, I would love to connect and discuss how we can work together to highlight and promote these much-needed features.
Let’s continue to advocate for housing that meets the needs of everyone, ensuring that accessibility becomes the standard, not the exception.
